The Hanged Man
It takes a
lot of will power, strength, and maturity to be able to say “ my mom was my age
once, she knows what’s best for me” and its hard for a mom to say “ my child
will make the same mistakes as I did once, and she will get over it” but
sometimes it has to happen. The Hanged Man talks so much about family,
and finding yourself that it was almost like a felid guide, just because it
related so much to real life. Kids honestly don’t get thanked for their actions
and appreciated for their struggles until something big happens, maybe the kid
did something wrong but still, and all people really don’t mention things, or
talk about things until much time later. But what if its too late?
All
throughout The Hanged Man we saw the main character -Laurel –have these anxiety
attacks and have serious paranoia, and in the beginning of the book we find out
that their was a rapist in the town that she lived in, I personally jumped to the quick
conclusion that she was upset and had parinoia because of the rapist, but I quickly changed my mind, Laurel's family was very broken, and very unstable Laurels father had died and she wasn't effected in the least, all she was thinking about was the boy that she met while she was at the hospital. Jack, the boy she met was obviously not a good person, and not someone that was going to help her in her life.
I know that I have moments when I dont trust my parents and moments when i get upset at my parents, but i know that most people are devastated when the littest things happen to their parents, so finding out that your father died and being more effected by a meer guy that casually said hi really made me wonder if her father, had done anything to deserve, or trigger the kind of reaction that occoured.
as The Hanged Man progresses, we see that Laurel drinks, smokes, does drugs, and has sex, but then we find that Laurel doesn't really want to do all of that stuff, she just feels like its Necessary for her to be a " normal/ average" person, and we find that she is also doing all of the things she is for jack as well. Why is jack so important to her? why can't she just let him go? or let him in?
